Phelamanga was appointed as the independent facilitator to assist Engage Engineering in collaboration with Climate Legal and COEX Environmental Planners team as they prepared the InterCement South Africa (Pty) Ltd (InterCement) application for postponement of compliance timeframes of the Minimum Emissions Standards (MES) in terms of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act (No. 39 of 2004).
The application was for the InterCement Simuma plant.
The application was advertised on 24 January, documents were available online and ihard copies were made available at the following venues: Marburg Library, 1 Protea Rd, Marburg or the InterCement Simuma Plant, Simuma for those stakeholders who were unable to download the documents. The Comment period was from 24 January to 7 March 2019. With a public meeting held on 7 February 2019.
Thereafter the application has been submitted to the National Air Quality Office for consideration. Once the reponse is recieved it will be sent out to all registered I&APs.
